Billy McKinney, 79, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at his residence.
He was retired as a flight-service specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration after 32 years, a member of Fowlkes United Methodist Church, served two terms as a Dyer County Commissioner, was a Mason for 50 years, a member of Masonic Lodge 93 F&AM, a former employee of Ozark Airlines and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. John Lowrance and the Rev. Frank Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ruth McKinney; two sons, Rodney McKinney and Jeff McKinney, both of Dyersburg; three grandchildren, Stacey West Smith of Olive Branch, Miss., Shelley West Herron and Suzanne West, both of Dyersburg; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Clayton McKinney, and a daughter, Sandra West.
Pallbearers will be David Quick, Marty Ramey, Jimmy Millner, Mark Pigott, Bill Harris and Jerome Doss. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Doss, H.P. Smith, Lowell Welch, Allen Woods, Leroy Neal and Bill Crowson.
