Billy M. Hightower, 66, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at his residence.

Bill was born and raised in Ripley, TN. He married Pam on November 5, 1983 and moved to Dyersburg, TN, to make a home here. He took great delight in helping raise her three children. Though he never had children of his own, he could not have been a better dad.

Bill worked on the river as a deckhand and eventually became a boat captain. His work led him to over fifty years of making friends who became family. He loved them just as much as he loved us. We were always hearing the stories from work.

He loved to play golf and tinker in the barn. And, what he loved most was anything that involved being with his grandkids. His love for family and friends was fierce. He was a kind and gentle soul, a good man and a great dad. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Holy Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Knowles officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Holy Hills Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela G. Hightower; a son, C.J. Hightower and wife, Jennie; a daughter, Randi Winstead; his mother-in-law, Peggy Gibson; a brother, Terry Hightower of Ripley, TN; a sister, Carolyn Hightower-Lewis of Munford, TN; and six grandchildren, Evan Hughes, Steele Arnold, Ellie Hightower, Reed Winstead, Garrett Hightower and Maggie Winstead.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Hightower Teague; his father, Mark Hightower; three sisters, Katie Hutcherson, Martha Ann Webb and Sharon Hightower; a daughter, Lorie S. Hughes; and his father-in-law, Bobby G. Gibson.
