February 27, 1953 – November 24, 2022
Mr. Billy Wayne Bivens, of Dyersburg, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at his home. He was born Feb. 27, 1953 in Dyersburg, TN to Ruth & Pete Bivens and was a graduate of Dyersburg High School in 1971. He was a life-long farmer and member of McCullough Chapel Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and a member of the Tennessee National Guard. He was a lover of military history, especially WWII aviation and hunting for Civil War relics. He was a member of the Dyersburg Army-Air base Memorial Assoc. and the Military Vehicle Preservation Assoc.
Billy is survived by his son & farming partner, Andy Bivens and wife, Amanda, his mother, Ruth Bivens, his wife, Cathey Bivens, his brother, Tim Bivens and wife, Laura, his step-daughters, Holly Nash and Brandi Kimbrell. He is loved & remembered as "Pop" by his grandson, Sam Bivens and his step-grandchildren, Zach & Grayson Nash, Tyler Northcutt, Zoey Henson and Felicia, Destiny & Taylor Kimbrell and step-great-granddaughter, Avalee Young. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Emily Bivens and his father, Olin "Pete" Bivens.
Visitation will be held at Dyersburg Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.
The family ask that memorial donations be directed to the Dyersburg Army-Air Base Assoc. or the Dyer County Community Cancer Fund.
