Billie Clayburn Tinkle, 80, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was retired bookkeeper for the City of Dyersburg, a member of Fort Hudson Baptist Church, member of Disabled American Veterans, a U.S. Army veteran of Korean War receiving the Purple Heart for wounds from enemy machine gun fire in the battle of Kunu-ri, North Korea.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Don Layman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Tinkle; two daughters, Lora Nicks of Dyersburg and Peggy Webb and husband, Bobby, of Germantown; two sons, Dickey Tinkle and wife, Zina, of Dyersburg and Shega Kameshima and wife, Fumin of Tokyn, Japan; a brother, Danny Evans and wife, Mary Alice, of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Edna Pierce Tinkle; and a sister, Doris Holloman.
Pallbearers will be Dickey Tinkle, Danny Evans, Jerry Patterson, Ralph Stanbrough, Earl Tinkle and Carey Tinkle.
The family request that any memorials be directed to Fort Hudson Baptist Church or Disabled American Veterans.
