Billie Joyce Jackson Permenter, 91, of Finley, TN, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at her residence.

Billie Joyce was born on January 13, 1928, in Finley, TN, to the late Jessie C. Jackson and the late Margaret Lucile Carver Jackson. She was a graduate of Dyersburg High School in 1946. In 1948, Billie Joyce graduated from Ward Belmont Women's College.  She would later attend Memphis State where she received her Masters Degree.  She began teaching in 1948 at Richwood School. For years, Billie Joyce taught in many schools in Dyer County, including Nell Thomas, Dyersburg Elementary and Dyer County Central. In 1980, she retired from Dyer County Central School. Billie Joyce was a very active lifetime member of Finley United Methodist Church, where she was an adult Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Women's Guild. She was an avid antique collector, world traveler, story teller, poet, and bridge player. Billie Joyce had a full and wonderful life.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Gunter officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her six nieces, Carolyn Permenter Finley, Gaye Pritchett Reed and Dee Ann Permenter Lovelace, all of Finley, TN, Loretta Permenter Williams and Kay Permenter Cooper, both of Olive Branch, MS and Krista Permenter Lewis of Dyersburg, TN; a nephew, Thomas Permenter of Finley, TN; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Permenter; a niece, Donna Pritchett Presley; two nephews, Dennie Permenter and Dent Permenter; a step-brother; and a step-sister.

Pallbearers will be great-nephews, Tim Lovelace, Clifford Scott Williams, Todd Williams, Kevin Cooper, Jason Reed and Ed Presley. Honorary pallbearers will be great-nieces, Lisa Finley, Amy Hester, Kelly Chitty and Pennye Thurmond.
