Bettye Joyce Pennington Smith's Obituary
Bettye Joyce Pennington Smith, 74, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired nurse for Northwest Correctional Facility. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ and a former member of the Eastern Star.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with Mr. Steve Pennington officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her two daughters, Beth Simmons and husband, Brent, of Dyersburg and Edie Shaver and husband, Jerry, of Dayton; a son, Eugene Smith and wife, Tina, of Newbern; a daughter-in-law, Leigh Ann Smith of Newbern; a brother, Leamon Atwood "L.A." Pennington of Ripley; eight grandchildren, David Smith, Greg Smith, Jessica Smith, Cody Cantrell, Jacob Simmons, Alex Shaver, Derrick Shaver and Cyrena Shaver; and five great-grandchildren, Camden Cantrell, Jaxon Cantrell, Avery Davis, A.J. Shaver and Allie Shaver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Smith; a son, Barry W. Smith; and her parents, R.H. and Ada Lucille Heathcott Pennington.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, family members and friends.
