Betty Permenter Travelstead, 79, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at her residence.

Betty was born on June 3, 1944, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Walter and Sue Thompson Permenter. She was a cook for 31 years at Finley Elementary School and also worked in the kitchen at Big Boy Junction. Betty was a very active person that loved to play softball, enjoyed all family activities and dancing.

Visitation for Ms. Travelstead will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her two sons, Sam Travelstead and Tony Travelstead; a daughter, Teresa Travelstead Calvario; seven grandchildren, Bobby Richter, Randy Shea, Jr., Christopher Shea, Chelsea Patterson, Kristen Stanford, Gracie Travelstead and Zach Ozment; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Randy Shea; a daughter, Cindy Shea; three brothers, Paul Permenter, J.D. Permenter and Wayne "Fuzz" Permenter; four sisters, Geraldine Davis, Faye Criswell, Fern Anderson and Kay Permenter; and a grandson, Walter Richter.
