Betty Holt
Tickle
April 24, 1944 – August 30, 2024
Ms. Betty Holt Tickle, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Jackson General Hospital. Betty was born on April 24, 1944, to the late James Edgar (Chig) & Virginia (Sis) Holt. Betty was a long-time member and organist for Spring Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed Gospel music. Over the years, she worked in the pharmacy of Parkview Hospital, the Dyer County Election Commission, operated Tickle's Grocery alongside her husband Dan, and more recently as the secretary of Three Oaks Middle School. Betty truly loved spending time with her family, traveling to see her daughters and grandchildren, listening to music, keeping up with the St. Louis Cardinals, and fishing with her husband.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Lisa Maas & husband, Steve, of Cookeville, Ginny McCormack of Maryville and Nickie Jowers & husband, Kenny, of Newbern, her sisters Jane Carolyn Heathcott & Sandra Hankins, her grandchildren, Erik Maas, Jenna Tindle, Rylee McCormack, Chase Fulcher & Kirsten Jowers and one great-grandson, Daniel Perry Tindle. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 52 years, Dan Tickle.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 2, 2024, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Bro. James Branscum. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Erik Maas and Chase Fulcher, nephews Jeff Heathcott, Tommy Heathcott, Shane Connelly, and John Tickle. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith McCormack, and sons-in-law Steve Maas and Kenny Jowers.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to the ministries of Springhill Baptist Church.
