Betty Kate Glidewell, 91, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Signature Healthcare of Ridgely.

Betty was born on September 29, 1928, in Phillippy, TN to the late Banaultha Calloway Howerton and the late Safronia Hays Howerton. She was a homemaker and a member of Phillippy Baptist Church. Betty had previously worked at H.I.S. in Tiptonville and the Airpark. On February 13, 1943, Betty married John Glidewell.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Hickman City Cemetery with Bro. Chip Davis officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanie Hopper and husband, Terry, of Phillippy, TN; three grandchildren, Jeremy Hopper, Misty Stanley and Corey Glidewell; and seven great-grandchildren, Caroline Hopper, Carson Hopper, Jaxon Stanley, Jillian Stanley, Logan Glidewell, John Glidewell and Emily Glidewell.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Glidewell; a son, Bobby D. Glidewell; four brothers, Milton D. Howerton, Dewitt Howerton, Carlos Howerton and Jewel Howerton; and five sisters, Salma Woods, Lois Mitchel, Evelyn Grimard, Velva Howerton and Laura Faye Williams.

Pallbearers will be J.P. Amberg, Shane Ervin, Jason Stanley, Terry Hopper, Jeremy Hopper and Corey Glidewell. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and Jimmy Cox, Jack Ervin, Donnie Owens and David Mooring.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
