Betty Free Gilmour, age 81, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Born on May 20, 1944, in Memphis, TN, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lynn Scott Vaden and Ann Conner Vaden. Betty dedicated 32 years of her life to teaching at Dyersburg Middle School before retiring in 2001. She was an avid crafter and had a passion for reading. Betty was also known for her volunteer work in many community programs. She was a woman of faith, practicing as a Methodist.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors beginning at 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Gilmour of Dyersburg, TN; two daughters, Kimberly Bennett (Richard) of Memphis, TN and Merribeth Free Myers (Jason) of Dyersburg, TN; a brother, Lynn Scott Vaden of Jackson, TN; and three grandchildren, Tori Beth Myers, Bethany Bennett and Charles Bennett.
