Bessie Riggs Lowe Hollingsworth, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away at her residence on October 10, 2026, at the age of 97. She was born on March 22, 1929, in the Chic Community.

Bessie Hollingsworth was a homemaker who devoted herself to the care of her home and family, and she also worked in housekeeping for Dyersburg Hospital. She was known as a loving and devoted mother who raised her children in church and made family the center of her life. She loved taking care of those she loved, and that spirit of care was reflected in all she did. She was a great cook, kept a very clean house, and took pride in working in her yard.

Her faith was an important part of her life from an early age, having been raised in the Church of God as a child. She was later an active member of Boose United Methodist Church until it closed. In her church life, she was a willing and faithful worker, happy to do whatever was needed, whether cleaning the church or painting it. She also adored her husband, Max Hollingsworth, and cherished the life they shared.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Davis of Dyersburg, Judy Hays of Dyersburg, and Carol Burke and her husband, Jerry, of Yorkville; her sister, Jeannie North of Dyersburg; and by her brother, Eddie Riggs and wife, Norma Kay, of Paris. She also leaves behind her twelve grandchildren, Sandy Thurmond, Tracy Pease (Todd), Jimmy Lowe, Stephanie Ballard (Mark), Jeremy Lowe (Stephanie), Beverly Crews, Jennifer Albarez (Hector), Kim Lowe, Lynn Roberts (Amy), Michael Crews (Nicole), Adam Pride (Amanda), and Robert Michaels. Her family was a great source of joy in her life, and her love and care will remain with them always.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Aldon Lowe and Max Hollingsworth; by her son, James Lowe; by her two daughters, Phyllis Roberts and Tammy Michaels; by her three brothers, Allen Riggs, Elvis Riggs and John Riggs; a sister, Ollie Bane; her father, Albert Pete Riggs; her mother, Flossie Mae Burns Riggs; and by two grandsons, James Emmett Lowe and Curtis Hinson.
