Bernard John "Bernie" Anderson, 77, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born on July 8, 1939 in Le Mars, Iowa to the late Bernard Leo Anderson and the late Myrna Mae Louise Long Anderson. Bernie was a manager of many meat companies, including Sanderson Farms. On February 14, 1959, he married Julia Tott in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1965. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dyersburg, a member of the Rotary Club and was also an avid golfer. Bernie worked at H&R Block in Dyersburg after his retirement.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Stevenson officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Anderson of Dyersburg; a daughter, Cathy Bona of Dyersburg; two sisters, Nancy Anderson of Los Cruces, NM and Jean Whitmore of Summerville, OR; a brother, Tom Anderson of Excelsior, MN; and five grandchildren, Christina Haller of Wildwood, MO, Billy Bona, Reed Bona, Leo Bona and Owen Bona, all of Dyersburg.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Haller.
