Barbara Ann Butler, 87, of St. Joseph, MO, formerly of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on September 1, 2026, at St. Joseph Manor Health and Rehabilitation.
Born on August 19, 1939, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Barbara grew up in Dyersburg and attended Dyersburg City Schools. She was the middle child among her siblings and spent most of her life in Dyersburg. In 2023, she moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, to be closer to her family.
Barbara was a homemaker whose life was centered on the people and things she loved most. She loved Elvis, gospel music, and the color pink. She collected angels and loved to cook. Family was deeply important to her, and above all, she loved Jesus. Her warm spirit was reflected in the words she often shared: “I love everybody and everything.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cledus Butler; her father, Walter "Peanut" Brashier; her mother, Beulah Mae "Bill" Becton Brashier; her sister, Peggy Reeves; her brother, Walter Brashier; her son, James Rose III; her daughter, Jamilu Nelson; and her sons-in-law, Larry Nelson and Everett Bennett.
Barbara’s memory will be cherished by her daughter, Debbie Bennett of Rushville, Missouri; her son, Cledus Butler, Jr. of Piedmont, MO; her grandchildren, Brittany Ann Phillipe, Jessica Tulley (Josh), Tristen McCampbell (Andrea), and Rachel Earnhart (Josh), as well as her great-grandchildren, Cayden, Chandler, Tynan, Orion, Olyvea, Ian, Lily, Bennett, Payton, Aiden, Adalay, Michael, and Jessica. She is also survived by her niece, Vicki Misener, and her nephew, John Nick Reeves. May her love, faith, and devotion to family continue to live on in all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at Dyersburg Funeral Home, 420 US-51 ByPass W, Dyersburg, Tennessee, on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 820 Shelby Drive, Dyersburg, Tennessee.
