Mrs. Richard Walter Behnke, of Dyersburg, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at AHC-Dyersburg Nursing & Rehabilitation.  Barbara was born April 23, 1938, in Detroit, MI to the late Arthur & Viola Gignac.  She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dyersburg, where she retired from service as church secretary and organist.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Richard A. Behnke & wife, Kandee and Paul Behnke & wife, Angela, her daughter, Kristen Maly and her grandchildren, Marissa Behnke, Joel Behnke, Alexis Maly, Jake Maly, Jade Behnke and Jenna Behnke.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of nearly 55 years, Reverend Richard Walter Behnke, her brother Thomas Gignac and sister Ann Whitehorn.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at Dyersburg Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Dyersburg, beginning at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Reverend Paul Leigeber.  Mrs. Behnke will be laid to rest with her husband, Commander Richard Walter Behnke, USN RET. at West Tennessee Veterans' Cemetery in Memphis, TN on Monday, January 22, 2024.  Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Richard & Paul Behnke, Jake Maly, Joel Behnke, David Mitchell and Tom Lundberg.
