Obituary

Mr. Arthur Jerry Willis, of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital in Martin, Tenn.  He was born June 1, 1936 to the late Dick & Daisy Willis.  He served in the Unites States Army as a radio operator and spent his career as a sales route manager for Hart Bread Co. & Little Debbie.  In retirement, he loved being the delivery driver for C&C Pharmacy.

He was a lifelong lover of sports, especially baseball, as a Saint Louis Cardinal & Tennessee Volunteer fan.  He shared that love as a youth baseball coach for many years.  He travelled across the country as a competitive team bowler and also enjoyed fishing.  He was a life-long member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, of 67 years, Linda Burton Willis, his daughter, Lori Long & husband, Tommy, and his brother, Frank Willis, of Dyersburg.   Arthur was loved as "Graddy" by his grandchildren, Logan Long, LaraBeth Gibbs and Jenny Talbott, his great-grandchildren, Layton Harris, Kobe Melton, Bentley Dawson, Preston Holland, Ellie Gibbs, Hattie Gibbs, Tristen Long, Eli Long, Braxton Long, Adelyn Talbot, Avery Talbot & Spencer Talbot, Thomas Long and Brennan Long.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Jaurette WaRay and Travis Willis, his sisters, Dorothy Seaton, Jenny Harris & Joy Neel.  He also leaves a dedicated caregiver, Michael Long.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Dyersburg Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Lynn King with interment to follow in Zion Cemetery in Cloverdale, TN.  Pallbearers will be Kevin Cook, Ed & Mark Eller, Mike Long and Brian & Ben Cable.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Arthur's bowling team; Gary McGill, Bill Haden, Scott Stephens, Bill Brown and David Cooper.

The family ask that memorials be directed to Veteran's support organizations or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in lieu of flowers.
