Arthur Joy Slaughter, 69, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Jackson Regional Hospital.
He was a retired salesman for Wonder Bread from 1965 - 2000, member of Church of Christ, worked several years as a butcher and an U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam War.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Mr. Rick Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his three daughters, Gena Abbott and husband, Andrew, Amy Slaughter and Michelle Rodgers, all of Dyersburg; a son, Arthur George Slaughter of Dyersburg; a sister, Laverne Holland and husband, Lee Roy, of Dyersburg; two brothers, Jerry Slaughter of Dyersburg and Charles Larry Slaughter and wife, Cathy, of Memphis; and three grandchildren, Blake Jones of Newbern, Brian Rodgers of Munford and Cameron Morris of Dyersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Herman and Ophelia Montgomery Slaughter; and a sister, Shirley Slaughter Waldron.
Close friends will serve as pallbearers.
