Obituary

Alvie Astor Pride, 82, of Jackson, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

He was a mechanic for Foam Fabricators in Jackson and a member of the VFW.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Phipps officiating.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include four daughters, Doris E. Roy, Patricia D. Sanford, Teresa K. Long and Sandy Townsend, all of Jackson; three sons, Michael V. Pride, Patrick Pride and Brian S. Pride, all of Jackson; a sister, Judith Moore of Memphis; two brothers, Ziados "Fat" Pride of Finley and Hubert Gail Pride of Dyersburg; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ophelia Lucille Pride; and his parents, O.C. and Lottie Pride.
