Obituary

Allen Lyndal Hollingsworth, 84, of Newbern, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his residence.

He was a welder for TVA, member of Emmaus Baptist Church, member of District 57 Boilermakers Union, became a self-employed welder at Tanky Welding Service after retirement and an U.S. Navy Veteran.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Emmaus Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery near Curve, TN. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Survivors include his two daughters, Joan Lamb of Newbern and Laura Patterson of Dyer; two sisters, Rosie Powell of Vicksburg, MS and Jewell Jones of Johnson City, TN; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Yancey Hollingsworth; a son, William "Butch" Lamb; his parents, James Sr. and Ivy Mangrum Hollingsworth; and three brothers, Wink Hollingsworth, James Grady Hollingsworth and David Eugene Hollingsworth.

Pallbearers will be David Hollingsworth, Eddie Hicks, Larry Speedy Edwards, Parker Lamb, Jim Valois, Terry Brown, Jr., Michael Hollingsworth and Adam Oxley.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
