Alfred Darrell Hurd

Alfred Darrell Hurd, 70, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on November 3, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born on July 13, 1956, in Lawton, Michigan.

Mr. Hurd proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected dedication and service to others. He also worked as a truck driver for U.S. Express, a career that spoke to his strong work ethic and the steady, dependable way he moved through life.

He is survived by his sons, Bennie Smith (Jamie) of Tiptonville, TN and William Howard Smith (Amy) of Detroit, MI, and by his sister, Debbie Ecie of Kalamazoo, MI. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Bennie Smith, Jr., Jennifer Anderson, Jacob Goldsmith, and Erica Souders, who carry forward his memory and the place he held in their family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Darrell Hurd, and his mother, Arlene Grace Covell Hurd.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
