Alfred Allen Attaway, 86, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Attaway was a retired foreman for Dyersburg Fabrics. He was also a member of the Dyersburg Bowling Hall of Fame and a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Wes Depew and the Rev. Michael Crandall officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The Attaway Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughter, Penny Childrey and husband, Phillip, of Ridgely; two sons, Allen Attaway and wife, Danita, of Dyersburg and Brian Attaway of Destrehan, LA; six grandchildren, Lori Reeves, Jeremy Attaway, Justin Attaway, Preston Childrey, Terry Attaway, and Danielle Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Jasmine Reed, Braylen Attaway, Blake Attaway, and Elizabeth Childrey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Avanell Attaway; two daughters, Pamela Diane Gladden and Devona Faye Attaway; his parents, Herbert and Elizabeth Davis Attaway; a sister, Margaret Powers Colvett; and a brother, George Powers.
Pallbearers will be Lewis Tanner, Mike Morgan, Terry Adkins, Jeremy Attaway, Preston Childrey, and Shelton Jones.
