Ms. Abigail Hyde, 98, of Ridgely, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional.
She was a retired nurse at Parkview Hospital. Ms. Abigail was a member of Burnetts Chapel Baptist Church, a charter member of Lake County Historical Society and a member of the First Families of Tennessee. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, a correspondent for the Lake County Banner, she was the Chairman for the Lake County Red Cross and was also a Lake County Historian.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her three grandchildren, Vivian Gail Perkins, George A. "Tony" Bargery, and Johnathon L. Chadwick; a sister, Sammie Lane Sharp of Tiptonville; a brother, Robert Kennedy Rice of Alexandria, LA; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, A.C. Chadwick and James M. Hyde, Sr.; a daughter, Theresa Gail Bargery; a son, Joel "Kayo" Chadwick; a grandson, Anthony Christopher Chadwick; her parents, Nullye and Mary Kennedy Rice; and a brother, William H. Rice.
Pallbearers will be Richie Clancy, Robert Coats, Robert Lee Hart, Andrew Swift, Jackie Howell, and Dennis Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Chadwick, Brandon Montgomery, Wilkes Moore, Mack Haley, Steve Haley, and Tony McClure.
The Hyde Family requests that memorials be directed to a church of the donor's choice or to the Ridgely Public Library.
